I have been to visit several wedding venues in West Yorkshire over the last four months and I wanted to share what I have found with all those about to embark on planning a wedding and searching for that perfect wedding venue in West Yorkshire.
My last post on Wedding venues in Leeds got such a huge response, I decided it was time to write another post. Finding and deciding on your wedding venue can be really difficult and I know this first hand! It is also the first and probably one of the most important decisions you make when planning your wedding. It has taken me about 4 full months to decide on my wedding venue and I have still changed my mind at least twice! Your wedding venue, in my opinion, is so important as it is one of the parts of your wedding you will remember forever and will determine what 'feel' your entire wedding day has.
In this list are 10 wedding venues in West Yorkshire that I feel have something unique to offer. There is something in this list that covers all budgets and tastes and most importantly will make beautiful wedding venues.
10. The Leeds Club
If you are looking for a totally unique and sophisticated city centre wedding then The Leeds Club is a great place to start. The Leeds Club is a former private members club which opened in 1852, it is a Grade II listed Victorian building on Albion Place in Leeds City Centre, perfectly situated for an urban wedding. It is also really handy for guests travelling from elsewhere with plenty of accommodation in the surrounding city centre hotels. The interior is really spectacular and exudes elegance and historic charm throughout. This venue is also quite reasonable with prices starting at just under £5000 for 50 guests with a three course dinner. View The Leeds Club Wedding Packages here.
For something completely different, the National Media Museum in the centre of Bradford is now available to hire as a wedding venue. This may seem like a strange place to hold a wedding reception but it is great for a stress free modern wedding. If you're looking for something contemporary, innovative and flexible, then The National Media Museum might be the one for you. They have a number of different rooms and galleries available to use as a wedding reception venue and offer a wide range of catering facilities available. This would be especially perfect for a couple of photography or film buffs wanting to indulge in a themed wedding reception of their dreams.
Victoria Hall in Saltaire, West Yorkshire is a wonderful Grade II Listed venue in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Saltaire. The venue itself is used as a wedding and celebration venue as well as a conference and meeting and a hub for public events and classes. Victoria Hall is a place very close to my heart as I have attended many events here, all of which have been wonderfully organised in beautiful surroundings.
There are several rooms in Victoria Hall to chose from for your wedding ceremony and/or reception, all different sizes and with different interiors and colour schemes. Victoria Hall offers a selection of wedding packages to suit your needs and all you need is a deposit of £500 to secure your wedding date. The wedding packages range from £2700 to £4400, you can view the packages and see what's included on their website.
7. Hazelwood Castle
Hazelwood Castle on the outskirts of Leeds is a lovely and quaint wedding venue. The striking ancient castle itself dates back to the 11th century so is wonderfully magical. The interior of the castle is relatively small so can be perfect for a small/medium sized wedding party. The 77 acres of grounds around the castle are absolutely wonderful and give stunning views out across the West Yorkshire countryside. On a lovely summer's day, this venue looks spectacular and as they say on their website, you really can become king and queen for the day here!
Wedding packages for Hazelwood Castle start at £4995 or alternatively you can go for their premium 'all inclusive' package which gives your exclusive use of the castle and all 32 bedrooms for your guests with breakfast for £9995. This is a great package for those wanting a stress free 'package wedding' where everything is sorted by the wedding planner all at the one venue.
The Mansion in Roundhay Park was featured in my previous blog post on wedding venues in Leeds and I am featuring it again in my top 10 list of alternative wedding venues in West Yorkshire because it's just a lovely venue in perfect surroundings for anyone who loves Leeds! It stands on top of a little hill within the grounds of Roundhay Park, so you have wonderful views, a perfect backdrop for your wedding photography and it's just a stone's through from Leeds City Centre. You cannot have exclusivity of the whole of Roundhay Park but I don't entirely mind this. It's so lovely when you go for a weekend walk in Roundhay Park and see people getting married or enjoying their wedding reception here.
Wedding packages start at just £960 out of peak wedding season for the venue and the wedding menus start at £50 a head for award winning food. Both the interior and exterior of this wedding venue are stunning but not over the top, it is a lovely contemporary and unique wedding venue in the heart of West Yorkshire.
Applewood Weddings is a small wedding venue in the heart of West Yorkshire set in 3 acres of beautiful woodland in the outskirts of Leeds, "the perfect location for your rural outdoor wedding". They are dedicated to amazing service and going above and beyond for their customers and offer very reasonable wedding prices for a hand styled outdoor boho wedding. I came across this venue when I was looking at the option of doing something totally different. I have always wanted an outdoor wedding and, living in the North of England, this isn't always a realistic dream! Applewood Weddings do not let the unreliable seasons of the north or anything else deter them from creating stunning wedding receptions outside in wonderful surroundings! They have also thought of everything you might want or need at such a wedding. From portable 'posh toilets' to a fire pit for toasting marshmallows, they have it all covered!
This is another wonderful and unique wedding venue in West Yorkshire for small - medium sized weddings for nature lovers. This venue is nestled in the woodland valley of Hardcastle Crags near Hebden Bridge, it is a self sustaining mill that generates all of its own power and recycles everything possible. The mill itself was opened in 1800 as a cotton mill for the textile industry and is filled with history and many fascinating stories.
The venue is only available for civil ceremonies for 12 dates each year so if you're interested in booking this venue you might want to plan ahead! Wedding prices for room hire for 2016 start at £1250 rising to £1400 for weddings in 2018.
This is a truly unique wedding venue in West Yorkshire and would suit nature lovers and people looking for something out of the ordinary.
East Riddlesden Hall is a 17th century manor house near Keighley in West Yorkshire with a beautiful converted barn to hold both your ceremony and wedding reception. If you are looking for the perfect barn wedding in West Yorkshire then look no further, there is a whole wedding team here at East Riddlesden Hall to help and will decorate the wedding barn to your own tastes. The venue is also part of The National Trust so by having your wedding here, you are in turn helping to keep the Hall restored for future generations.
You really need to visit this venue to truly appreciate how stunning it is when set up for a wedding. The converted barn is the ideal wedding venue if you want a really good party after your ceremony. You can also have your wedding photographs taken in the great hall and the lovely grounds of East Riddlesden Hall.
2. Oulton Hall
Oulton Hall is one of the great wedding venues in West Yorkshire and could not be missed off my top 10 list! This classic 18th century mansion set within 300 acres of stunning grounds and gardens, providing the perfect backdrop for your wedding photographs, is a must see when looking for your wedding venue in West Yorkshire. There is a variety of function suites to choose from, each with their own unique charm and interior design so there is almost something for every taste here. Each function suite has different capacities, some for up to 65 guests, whereas the Oulton Suite can hold up to 250 guests. The reception rooms at Oulton Hall are magnificently grand and would be the perfect backdrop for an opulent and sophisticated wedding whether for just 50 or 250 guests.
Wedding packages at Oulton Hall start at £3900 which is based on a guest list of 60 guests and provides everything you need from the ceremony to the reception. Oulton Hall is a spectacular wedding venue in West Yorkshire, perfect for those wanting a glamorous yet classic wedding in a grand venue.
I LOVE this wedding venue!! Their beautiful website alone makes me happy!! The Arches is one of the largest and most exciting venues in the grounds of Dean Clough Mill in Central Halifax, West Yorkshire. The venue itself is part of a collection of converted Victorian Mill buildings from the 1800s which makes for a very chic and unique wedding venue in the heart of West Yorkshire. The interior of the venue is wonderfully converted into a stylish venue yet still holds the traditional Victorian industrial features.
The wedding packages start at £7500 for 60 daytime guests and 120 evening guests so I imagine if you wanted a smaller number of guests, this number might be a little lower. Have a look at their website, the photography is truly stunning and the website is very informative. If I had not already picked my wedding venue, this would be where I would want to have my wedding reception. Current;y they don't have a license for a legal ceremony but do accommodate for a wedding blessing.
For a truly rustic style, contemporary Yorkshire wedding with amazing food and unique surroundings, The Arches @ Dean Clough would be my recommended wedding venue.
