My last blog post on the Top 5 Wedding Gift Registry Lists was so popular, I thought it was time to write an update. Sometimes it surprises me how long I've been writing this blog, and my last post on wedding gift lists was 3 years ago now! So, time for an up to date 2018 version!
So many trends come and go in the wedding industry, sometimes it's hard to keep track. I have learnt so much from planning my own wedding last year along with photographing many weddings over the past few years. I absolutely love seeing how everyone does it differently, but it's quite easy for me to spot the trends that stick. For me, cake trends seem to come and go as fast as they are eaten. Trends in flower arrangements and wedding styling seem to last much longer, I particularly love the simplistic approach to wedding florals and keeping it super simple with beautiful green and whites. One thing that doesn't change - the fact that wedding guests want to buy you wedding gifts! What's not to love about this trend?!
Even if you tell your guests that you don't expect or want any gifts and that their prescence at your special day is all that's required, they STILL want to, and will, buy you a wedding gift. It's one of those wedding traditions there's no getting away from. So why not embrace it?
I have put together an updated list for 2018 of the Top 5 Wedding Gift Registry Lists so it's super easy for you to make a choice. Another tick on your wedding planning list :)
5. AMAZON WEDDING LIST
The Amazon Gift List is the list for couples who want flexibility and literally an open book of gifts. You can add anything and everything that is old on Amazon to your wedding gift list. Couples can check Amazon's customer reviews & ratings and use the universal wish list function, where they can add any gift from any website. You can also take advantage of the thank you list feature to track what each guest has bought.
This seems to me to be a great wedding gift list to go for to please both yourself and your future husband :) Not only does Amazon seem to sell absolutely everything under the sun, it does also have a section of curated collections. So it is trying to compete with the likes of Prezola and John Lewis, but I don't thin it's quite there yet.
Personally, I think the Amazon Gift List has a long way to go in competing with the big players in this industry. Its not 100% user friendly and it doesn't have a luxurious aesthetic and therefore doesn't feel that special.
Zankyou is a brilliant website that provides a number of solutions to your wedding planning woes. It allows you to create a really simple wedding website that manages your guest list, invitations, and even your table plans! It even has an app to manage all of your content from your smartphone.
Not only does it provide you with all the tools for planning your wedding, it also has a great website full of great inspiration for your wedding, if you're struggling to come up with a theme or colour pallet for instance. They have a great database of suppliers as well, which are based mainly in London, but if you need a florist, wedding photographer or even a venue, this website is definitely worth a look.
Their Wedding List service is also very well done. It is essentially advertised as a cash registry where the cash gifts go directly into your account, but it is more than this. You can add a charitable donation as one of your gifts, and you can add certain gifts onto your list as well. You can even have a ‘Green List’ that allows guests to make donations towards protecting the environment.
I would highly recommend Zankyou as a site that covers all your wedding planning needs, all wrapped up in a beautifully designed user friendly website.
3. JOHN LEWIS GIFT LIST
John Lewis Wedding Gift List is exactly what you'd expect from them, a well finished and presented service. As a lover of the John Lewis brand, I believe this is a great combination Wedding List, that comes with a huge amount of choice, flexibility, and of course quality. The best thing of all is that it is FREE, all the way from registering to delivery.
You can combine gifts from John Lewis, a honeymoon fund with the prestigious travel company, Kuoni, and even the option of adding charitable donations to Cancer Research UK and gift vouchers to your list.
The partnership with Kuoni is what sells it for me, as it is an amazing travel company with expert knowledge on luxury holidays whether you want adventure or pure paradise.
The John Lewis Wedding List is really easy to use and gives you all the options you need - honeymoon fund, charity donations and a huge range of high quality gifts all with 2-5 years guarantee.
2. THE WEDDING SHOP - YOUR ULTIMATE GIFT LIST
The Wedding Shop is in no way new gift registry, The Wedding Shop is actually the longest established wedding gift registry in the UK and has been running for 28 years.
Their newly designed website is beautiful and super easy to navigate - which I must admit is my first big tick! If I don't find a website attractive and easy to use, I leave immediately.
They have a choice of over 350 brands to choose from, including The White Company, Le Creuset and Kate Spade. They also have several show rooms, which I find extremely helpful. Not only are they beautifully designed but this also gives a contact point and a face to face. This can be quite rare in this digital world, and sometimes, even in 2018, you can't beat chatting through your queries face to face with another person.
With The Wedding Shop, you also have complete flexibility. You can have fee free honeymoon donations as well as physical gifts, honeymoon experiences and charitable donations too. For larger, more expensive gifts, you can split between guests so they can group together to buy that big gift you've always wanted.
UK delivery is complimentary when you sign up with The Wedding Shop and your gifts are beautifully packaged and sent out to you on your chosen date after your wedding.
The best thing about The Wedding Shop? IT'S FREE! No commission, no charges.
